GVB’s New Favourite Hardcore Music Video?

by gvb on January 11, 2010

Ok, I was listening to Mike Davies on the BBC Radio 1 Punk Show (as I do every week), and “Friends And Traitors” by Raised Fist hit the zeros and ones. I loved the track (Alexander Hagman’s voice hit me a little like Chino Moreno’s chaotic vocal chords in Deftones’ ‘Elite’) and I sought out the band’s MySpace page. Loaded up at the top of the page was the video to the track I had just heard, so I gave it a go:

That’s just completely amped up! Did I see someone get smashed with a beer bottle? Did that masked guy drop the lead singer to the ground, Karate style!? I also like the bald guitar player, feeling the lyrics to the tune. I know, it’s pretty brainless stuff, but I think that that’s a great music video right there.

Its predecessor? That would be Comeback Kid’s “Wake The Dead”:

Hmmm, tough call…still. That’s a great live-action music video! That’s a band at its purest right there. It actually makes me feel like I’m back at one of the band’s shows, every time I see it. When the gang-vocals come in at the end, I still get chills.

Yes, tough call indeed. I think that both embody what music videos originally set out to do — give you a feel for what the band is like live.

What’s YOUR favourite hardcore music video???
